This project involved the design & prototyping of a pair of sandals for young women seeking both comfort & modern style. The development process began with an exhaustive research to understand the daily needs, preferences & paint points of the target audience. Insights gathered guided ergonomic decisions such as strap placement & footbed contouring, to ensure all-day wearability.
In parallel, I explored aesthetics aligned with current fashion trends, aiming for sleek yet versatile designs suitable for casual & semi-formal settings. Prototyping allowed for testing fit, comfort & durability. I applied principles like usability, accessibility & visual consistency.Key Insights:
User-Centric Design: User expressed that many stylish sandals of the moment lack proper support, leading to discomfort during long periods of wear. Cushioning & soft materials were identified as essential features.Style versatility: The target audience -young women aged 20-35- looked for footwear that could transition from casual outings to semi-formal events. Minimalist & neutral aesthetics were preferred.Form follows function: A beautiful design must always support the user's needs & usage context.

Sketching
The sketching phase began with quick ideation to explore a range of forms that balanced ergonomic comfort with a sleek, youthful aesthetic. Initial hand sketches focused on sole profiles, strap configurations, and material layering—always keeping the user’s comfort and lifestyle in mind.
Visual Identity
In this phase, I created a cohesive visual identity to reflect the brand values of the sandal: style, comfort, and modern functionality. The identity needed to resonate with a young, professional audience. I defined a visual direction through moodboards, typography, color palettes, and logo exploration that communicated a balance between elegance and ergonomics. The result was a versatile identity system that elevated the product’s presence across packaging, digital interfaces, and promotional materials, ensuring brand consistency and emotional connection with the target user.
Mockups
The result of this project highlighted the importance of designing with both user experience and aesthetic relevance in mind. By focusing on the real needs of a young, dynamic audience—such as comfort, versatility, and personal style—we developed a sandal that seamlessly integrates into their fast-paced lifestyle. Through iterative prototyping, user testing, and a user-centered design approach, we ensured that both the physical ergonomics and the visual identity aligned with the expectations of modern consumers. The result is a product that not only supports day-to-day comfort but also enhances self-expression, reflecting how thoughtful design can elevate everyday experiences.
